At a particular previous job of mine, there were days I’d end up carrying four cell phones, each with a different number and a different purpose. Line2 for the iPhone, created by Talktumi, takes situations like this and streamlines them into one iPhone. If you’re in a location with WiFi, the Line 2 App can turn your iPod Touch into a VoIP phone. Line2 could very well turn out to be the VoIP solution that Skype and Google Voice were trying to be. Line2 will charge only $15 a month for this service, so small cash loans won’t be needed to double your phone’s functionality. Line2 will now face the task of keeping momentum rolling. Yesterday, after displaying Line2 at the CTIA conference, Talktumi’s Line2 App was No. 1 in the iPhone app store. Talktumi was forced to take their app offline while they fight off a DNS attack.
Line2 App uses two data networks
The functionality of Line2 Application is that users can make and receive calls with WiFi or the 3G network. If you travel between 3G and wireless networks, Line2 will seamlessly switch between the two.
Line2 allows users for making and get calls without using cell network minutes. Long-distance international calls can also be much less expensive with the Line2 system. The app itself merely costs $1, and after a 30 day free trial Line2 only charges $15 a month – no payday lending to pay the bills necessary.
Make more than calls with Line2
Line2 provides more than just a service that switches your calls through the internet. Instead, the Line2 is a full-featured second phone line. Another cell phone number can be set up and routed through Line2. If you’re a business owner trying to keep things in order, Line2 can also set up a virtual phone tree. Best of all, Line2 offers visual voice mail, conference calling and a choice of how for making incoming calls. Line2 does something very simple – gives you a second iPhone on your iPhone.
DNS Attacks on Line2
On March 25, Line2 rose to the No. 1 spot in the iPhone app store. Many were surprised that the Line2 App got approved by the Apple App Store – Google Voice for the iPhone was just recently rejected for providing a very similar service, which the App store claimed would compete for the “core business” of the iPhone – making calls.
The Line2 app was not available on March 26. Talktumi took Line2 offline at about 9 p.m. Eastern Time March 25 due to a coordinated DNS Denial of Service attack. The company is offering up-to-the-minute updates on the Talktumi Twitter account, and hope to have Line2 up and running again soon.
